Football Recap: Staples Starts Season with Win on the Road

Staples had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They took down the Glastonbury Guardians 17-3.

Staples was led to victory by Nick Weil and Chaz Darby. Weil rushed for 48 yards and one touchdown, while Darby rushed for 80 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards Weil has posted since back in October of 2024.

Staples and Glastonbury will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Wreckers are set to face off against their familiar foe Stamford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Glastonbury will square off against rival Southington at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
