Albany came tearing into Thursday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the King City Wildkats 11-1. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Makena Moffat made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Hillyard, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Kaitlyn Bunker also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Albany was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Albany's record now sits at 7-1. As for King City, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Albany will head out to challenge Cainsville at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for King City, they will venture away from home to face off against East Buchanan at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.5 runs per game on average), something the Wildkats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
