Ayer Shirley took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Mystic Valley Regional, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Eagles 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since May 14, 2025.

The team relied heavily on Troy Leighton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Ayer Shirley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-8 otherwise.
