Softball Recap: Gross Catholic Wins Going Away Against Duchesne/Roncalli

Gross Catholic barely beat Duchesne/Roncalli the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars blew past Duchesne/Roncalli 10-2 on Thursday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Clara Meeker looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Julianna Braun was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September of 2024. Lauren Kosse was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Gross Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Duchesne/Roncalli only managed four.

Gross Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Duchesne/Roncalli, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-16.

Looking ahead, Gross Catholic will be taking part in a tournament against Skutt Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the SkyHawks have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. Duchesne/Roncalli does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
