Basketball Recap: Natalie Vermillion's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Panther Valley over Blue Mountain

After flying high against Jim Thorpe last Wednesday, Panther Valley came back down to earth. The Panther Valley Panthers fell 47-39 to the Blue Mountain Eagles on Thursday. The Panthers have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Natalie Vermillion, who posted nine points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Orsulak, who earned 13 points and six boards.

Panther Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Blue Mountain, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-7.

Panther Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-49 victory against Minersville on the 25th. As for Blue Mountain, they will square off against Pine Grove at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th.
