Holy Cross had lost six straight, but after bumping their record up to 10-11-1 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Cardinal Hayes Cardinals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since April 27th.

The team relied heavily on Michael Elferis, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Robert Keller also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Cardinal Hayes, they dropped their record down to 6-19 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since April 20th.

On Cardinal Hayes' side, Jhanley Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. Rodriguez has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Justin Hernandez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Angel Castillo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Holy Cross will have a chance to go back-to-back against Cardinal Hayes: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
