Basketball Game Preview: Mission San Jose Warriors vs. American Eagles

Mission San Jose is 1-9 against American since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Mission San Jose Warriors will welcome the American Eagles at 7:00 p.m.

Mission San Jose managed to keep up with Moreau Catholic until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Mission San Jose took a blow against Moreau Catholic, falling 57-28. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 380th, while the Mariners are ranked 158th).

Meanwhile, American had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They walked away with a 49-36 win over the Falcons.

American pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Mission San Jose, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Mission San Jose came up short against American when the teams last played back in January, falling 68-55. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of American's Shirina Shi, who went 10 of 22 en route to 35 points and seven assists.
