Baseball Game Preview: Terrell Academy Eagles vs. Citizens Christian Academy Patriots

The Terrell Academy Eagles will square off against the Citizens Christian Academy Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Terrell Academy took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Deerfield-Windsor with a sharp 8-1 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Citizens Christian Academy). They blew past First Preparatory Christian Academy 17-3 on Wednesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Patriots, who have now won four contests in a row.

Gray McLean was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Citizens Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3-1 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Skyler Woods was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Rutland, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4.

Citizens Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-3-1. As for Terrell Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

Terrell Academy took their win against Citizens Christian Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 14-4 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
