Baseball Recap: Winnisquam Find Success

Winnisquam came out on top against Newfound Regional on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. Winnisquam skirted past Newfound Regional 8-6. The game was the first time Winnisquam has beaten Newfound Regional on their field since April 16, 2022.

Carter Lloyd made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Winnisquam's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brady Colby, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. He has become a key player for Winnisquam: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-10 otherwise. Kellan Hilliker also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Winnisquam's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. As for Newfound Regional, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Winnisquam does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Newfound Regional, they will face off against Stevens at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
