Baseball Recap: Prospect Comes Up Short

Prospect dropped to 6-5 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Conant Cougars by a score of 10-9. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 10-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Conant, they pushed their record up to 9-2-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Conant's part, Mason Hopkins looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hopkins has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Conant let Andrew Miller and Alex Martinez run wild. Miller went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Martinez went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Martinez a new career-high. Arjun Patel was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

While Prospect had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
