Baseball Game Preview: Woodward Academy War Eagles vs. Dunwoody Wildcats

The Woodward Academy War Eagles will challenge the Dunwoody Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Woodward Academy comes in on ten and Dunwoody on 17.

Dunwoody's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Woodward Academy hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Everything went Woodward Academy's way against Shiloh on Thursday as Woodward Academy made off with a 14-0 win. Considering the War Eagles have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Henry McManamy looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Landon Walker was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Tate, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Woodward Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Dunwoody ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against Lakeside by a score of 6-1.

Dunwoody pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.6 runs. As for Woodward Academy, their record is now 12-1.

Woodward Academy took their win against Dunwoody in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 14-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodward Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
