Softball Recap: Morrow Takes a Loss

Morrow couldn't beat Banneker on Thursday even though they stacked 11 runs on them in the first inning. The Mustangs fell 16-13 to the Trojans. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Morrow saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Seivyn Fletcher, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Another was Kimorah Garrison, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Morrow and nudges their season record down to 0-2. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 6.5 runs this season. As for Banneker, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morrow will face off against Newnan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.83 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Banneker, they will square off against Langston Hughes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
