Baseball Recap: Stephenson Triumphs

It was a proper cat-fight when Stephenson duked it out with Forest Park on Saturday. The Jaguars walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Panthers. This was payback for the Jaguars, who suffered a 15-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Miles Allen and Alfonzo Osborne Jr. made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Allen struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Osborne Jr. tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Allen has posted since back in February. At bat, Allen got on base in two of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs, while Osborne Jr. got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Allen has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Bryant, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Cam Smith was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Stephenson's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Forest Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Stephenson will look to defend their home field on Monday against Luella at 5:55 p.m. The Jaguars will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Forest Park, they will head out to face off against Fayette County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
