Basketball Recap: Calabasas Comes Up Short

Calabasas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 77-46 loss at the hands of the Oaks Christian Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Coyotes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-48 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Calabasas lost, don't look at Ava Yazdandoost. Despite the final result, she posted 16 points. Scarlett Weiner was another key player, putting up nine points.

Oaks Christian was led to victory by Presley Kushner and Andrea Woodward. Kushner shot 6-for-9 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 31 points and nine boards, while Woodward dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Woodward's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Faith ODaniel, who had 11 points along with six assists and five boards.

Calabasas' defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Oaks Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-14 record this season.

Calabasas has already played their next contest, a 46-38 win against Grant on the 1st. As for Oaks Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-40 loss against Westlake on the 4th.
