Soccer Game Preview: Tamalpais vs. Redwood

The Tamalpais Red Tailed Hawks will take on the Redwood Giants at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Tamalpais is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.8 goals per game this season.

Redwood will be up against a hot Tamalpais team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Tamalpais never let San Rafael onto the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Tuesday. Given the Red Tailed Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 569th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tamalpais' offense was hitting San Rafael from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal.

Meanwhile, Redwood unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They and San Marin finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw. The result kept the Giants happy, as they haven't lost a game since January 9th.

Tamalpais is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five contests. With that draw, Redwood's record moves to 10-2-4.
