Baseball Recap: Hayward Comes Up Short

Hayward saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They came up short against the Ripon Indians, falling 13-2. The Farmers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hayward saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ja'Kye Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. The Farmers are 5-1 when Smith posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

Hayward's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Ripon, they moved to 10-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Hayward wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Patterson on the 8th. As for Ripon, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-3 defeat against Atwater on the 8th.
