Baseball Recap: Spencer Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Spencer's offense. They came up short against the Columbus Blue Devils on Friday, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Greenwave's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Spencer saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Murry, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Spencer's record is now 1-4. As for Columbus, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

The future could be bright for both Spencer and Columbus: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Greenwave will try to hand Hardaway their fifth-straight loss when the two meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Columbus will look to extend Sumter County's four-game losing streak when they meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
