Baseball Recap: Unity Christian Wins Going Away Against Praise Academy

Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Thursday. Unity Christian put the hurt on Praise Academy with a sharp 18-11 win. The result was nothing new for Unity Christian, who have now won three matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Benjamin Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wilson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jax Huskins and William Wilson did most of the damage at the plate: Huskins went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while William scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Asa Staats, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Unity Christian's victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Unity Christian will square off against Cornerstone Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Unity Christian has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Praise Academy, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Oakwood Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
