Baseball Game Preview: Chattahoochee Cougars vs. Lanier Longhorns

The Chattahoochee Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Lanier Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games Chattahoochee has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Chattahoochee took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Lanier 2-1. While the Cougars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Andrew Gordon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Noah Brady was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Chattahoochee has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. Lanier is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
