Softball Recap: Cheyenne Mountain Starts off Right with Win over Pueblo South

Cheyenne Mountain gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Pueblo South Colts as they made off with a 15-5 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Red-Tailed Hawks also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Addison Gutschick made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Gutschick was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michaela (MJ) Ewen, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Corrine Harlow, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Cheyenne Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Pueblo South's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Cheyenne Mountain will head out on the road to take on Rampart at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pueblo South, they will take on Coronado in a tournament on Friday.
