Softball Recap: Lafayette's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

It was a good run, but LaFayette unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Dade County Wolverines by a score of 4-3. Ramblers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Wolverines since Saturday.

Marlie Day was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 6.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emma Parker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

LaFayette's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Dade County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Coming up, LaFayette will face off against Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Ramblers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Generals have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Dade County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chattooga at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
