Tomball gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past the Stratford Spartans, posting a 43-6 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Spartans are ranked 277th).

Jaxyn Faldyn was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 185 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 55 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. What's more, he posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Ian Thomas was another key player, gaining 97 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tomball was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 273 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Tomball's defense stepped up as well, laying out Gavin Guzman. five times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece.
