Baseball Recap: Beloit Memorial Takes a Loss

Beloit Memorial had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 7-15 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to the Wilmot Panthers. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Beloit Memorial saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Willmy Henriquez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

As for Wilmot, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-15. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.

On Wilmot's side, Adymn Bergum tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Bergum also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Panthers are undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 7-15 otherwise.

At the plate, Wilmot let Chance Ruby and Reggie Brent run wild. Ruby went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Brent went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Brent has become a key player for Wilmot: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Michael McCormick, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Beloit Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wilmot, they will be playing at home against Richmond-Burton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
