Baseball Recap: Centennial Takes a Loss

After flying high against Marion County on Thursday, Centennial came back down to earth. The Centennial Knights lost 9-3 to the Ringgold Tigers on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 10-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2021.

Centennial got a good showing from Diego Crespo, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave Crespo a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Centennial saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brenden Vo, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Centennial now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Ringgold, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Coincidentally, Centennial and Ringgold will both be playing South Effingham the next time they take the field. Ringgold will head out to face South Effingham at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Centennial will head out to face them at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
