Baseball Recap: Glenoak Wins Going Away Against Boardman

GlenOak never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Boardman Spartans with a sharp 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Tommy Strain made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blake Broom, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Logan Kozma, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

GlenOak kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boardman only managed four.

GlenOak is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Boardman, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.

GlenOak and Boardman are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Golden Eagles will challenge Brunswick at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Boardman, they will face off against Mayfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
