Baseball Game Preview: Cherokee Bluff Bears vs. Kell Longhorns

The Cherokee Bluff Bears will head out to face off against the Kell Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cherokee Bluff will be strutting in after a victory while Kell will be coming in after a defeat.

Cherokee Bluff's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over East Forsyth. Considering the Bears have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Cherokee Bluff got a great performance from Gabe Gowder as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Gowder also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cherokee Bluff is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Bubba Coleman and Ethan England did most of the damage at the plate: Coleman went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while England scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. England is becoming a predictor of Cherokee Bluff's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Kaden Thompson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Kell has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.5 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They fell 12-8 to King's Ridge Christian.

Patrick Honeyman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Kell's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Cherokee Bluff, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
