Recap: West Vikings vs. Tehachapi Warriors
It was a good run, but the West Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They were beaten by Tehachapi 71-19. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points West has scored all season.
Despite the loss, West had strong showings from Mikayla Villalobos, who scored 12 points, and Caleigh Adams, who scored seven points. That was a full 36.8% of West's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, West struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Tehachapi's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Koree Rodden, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rodden has scored all season. Jamie Neaderbaomer was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
West's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7. As for Tehachapi, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.
West will take on Yucca Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Yucca Valley is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Tehachapi, they will take on East Bakersfield at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. East Bakersfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 872nd, while Tehachapi is ranked 169th).
