After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Aurora, NEN was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Arlington Eagles 8-1. The result was nothing new for NEN, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Mady Dolliver was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Laney Timm was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Riley Scholting, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
NEN kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arlington only managed six hits.
NEN's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Arlington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.
