Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Wolves vs. St. Bernard's Crusaders

Trinity hasn't had much luck against St. Bernard recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Trinity Wolves will take on the St. Bernard's Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Trinity sitting on four straight victories and St. Bernard's on 13.

On Friday, Trinity beat Modoc 47-39.

Meanwhile, St. Bernard's got the win against Ferndale on Friday by a conclusive 65-43. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 20 points or more this season.

Trinity better keep an eye on Laila Florvilus. She was instrumental in St. Bernard's win, almost dropping a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. Florvilus has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Carli Baum, who posted seven points along with five assists and four steals.

St. Bernard's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 23 consecutive matchups.

Trinity has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for St. Bernard's, they pushed their record up to 22-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Trinity was dealt a bruising 52-15 defeat at the hands of St. Bernard's in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Trinity was down 26-6.
