Basketball Recap: Sanger Victorious

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sanger walked away with it. They managed a 58-53 victory over the Independence Falcons on Friday. 58 seems to be a good number for the Apaches as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Despite the loss, Independence still got an impressive performance from Kenadi Walton, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 14 boards. Walton continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Ka'Rayah Robertson was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Sanger and bumps their season record up to 16-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games. As for Independence, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-13.

Coming up, Sanger will face off against Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Sanger surely won't give up without a fight. Independence does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
