Football Game Preview: Abilene Eagles vs. Tascosa Rebels

Two dominant signal callers in Brayden Henry and Coltyn Fulton are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Abilene Eagles will head out to square off against the Tascosa Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Abilene's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lubbock 73-0. That 73 point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Abilene's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB seven times. Infinity Carroll was especially locked on to Lubbock's QB and sacked him twice.

Meanwhile, Tascosa had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 49.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down the Plainsmen 35-21. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Rebels were the (much) better team in the second half.

Tascosa's win came from a few key players Abilene will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Reese Cabe, who rushed for 50 yards and two TDs. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Traeson Elliott helped out on the ground, rushing for 96 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Tascosa proved: they limited Monterey to a paltry 0.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Sam Adams for the heroic effort on defense: he. Tascosa didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged nine.

Abilene's record is now 6-2. As for Tascosa, their record now sits at 5-2.

Abilene skirted past Tascosa 31-29 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Fulton, who rushed for 122 yards while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 156 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.
