Softball Recap: Pueblo East Eagles vs. Rifle Bears

Pueblo East extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 11-14. They lost 14-3 to the Rifle Bears. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2017.

Pueblo East saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Krista Maldonado, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Rifle, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

On Rifle's side, Gia Keithley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Keithley was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September.

In other batting news, Rifle got a massive performance out of Rylan Petree, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. Petree has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Mangnall, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Pueblo East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rifle, they have already played their next contest, a 25-18 defeat against Roosevelt on the 17th.
