High school football rankings: Buford headlines Georgia Preseason MaxPreps Top 25

Wolves enter the season ranked No. 10 nationally behind top-ranked Class of 2024 prospect Dylan Raiola.

The 2023 high school football season in Georgia kicks off later this month and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. After finishing with a record of 11-1 last season, Buford owns the No. 1 spot in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 25.

Buford advanced to the second round of the Class AAAAAAA state tournament last season before losing a 42-35 shootout against Walton (Marietta). The Wolves begin the 2023 campaign ranked No. 10 nationally.

Georgia commit Dylan Raiola – the top-ranked recruit in the Class of 2024 – will lead the Buford offense after throwing for 2,435 yards and 22 touchdowns as a junior at Chandler (Ariz.). Raiola joins fellow five-star prospects K.J. Bolden and Eddrick Houston on a loaded roster.

Defending state champions from the Peach State in 2022 include Mill Creek (Hoschton) in Class AAAAAAA, Langston Hughes (Fairburn) in AAAAAA, Ware County (Waycross) in AAAAA, Benedictine (Savannah) in AAAA, Sandy Creek (Tyrone) in AAA, Thomson in AA, Prince Avenue Christian (Athens) in Class A Division I and Bowdon in Class A Division 2.

Rankings are computer-generated, factoring in past results and adjustments such as returners and statistical data when available.
