Soccer Recap: Saint Mary's Comes Up Short

If Saint Mary was riding high fresh off their 4-0 takedown of De Anza two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. 2025 welcomed the Saint Mary's Panthers with a 4-0 loss courtesy of the Branson Bulls on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Bulls are ranked 47th).

Saint Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2-1. As for Branson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.

Saint Mary's didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next match, a 12-0 win against Bethel on the 7th. As for Branson, they will take on Terra Linda at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Branson's defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Terra Linda's offense will have their work cut out for them.
