Softball Recap: Fremont Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Fremont dropped to 1-4 on Saturday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the Bellevue West Thunderbirds, falling 11-1. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunderbirds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Fremont saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Sintek, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Sintek is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Bellevue West's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Bellevue West's side, Grace Veik made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Veik was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September of 2024.

In other batting news, Bellevue West let Jaycee Woodard and Trina Rodriguez run wild. Woodard went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Rodriguez went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave Rodriguez a new career-high. Aurora Nelson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Looking ahead, Fremont will face off against Papillion-LaVista South at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bellevue West, they will take on Millard South at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
