Basketball Recap: Freeport Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Freeport can now relate to. They were dealt a 62-28 defeat at the hands of the Beaver Bobcats on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 528th, while the Bobcats are ranked 121st).

Beaver's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Wright, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 19 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Wright a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson Connelly, who went 5-for-9 on her way to 12 points and seven assists.

Freeport is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16. As for Beaver, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Freeport does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Beaver, they will take on Elizabeth Forward at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elizabeth Forward is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season.
