Basketball Recap: Shikellamy Takes a Loss

Shikellamy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lewisburg Green Dragons. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Green Dragons are ranked 100th).

Despite the loss, Shikellamy still got an impressive performance from Lily Fatool, who posted 29 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the most boards Fatool has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Nadia Smith, who had five points and 11 rebounds.

Shikellamy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Lewisburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Shikellamy will venture away from home to take on Midd-West at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Shikellamy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season. As for Lewisburg, they will host Mifflinburg at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Lewisburg's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Mifflinburg has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
