Football Recap: Baker County Piles Up the Points Against Halifax Academy

Baker County had lost five games at home dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 3-4 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Halifax Academy Knights 49-6. That looming 49-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.

Leading Baker County to victory were Delynno Ruise and Hudson Hodges. Ruise rushed for 63 yards and a pair of TDs, while Hodges picked up 77 receiving yards and two scores. That's the most receiving yards Hodges has posted since back in October of 2024.

As for Halifax Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 491st, while Baker County is ranked 169th).

When it comes to explaining why Halifax Academy lost, don't look at Marcus Brown Jr. Despite the final result, he rushed for 100 yards on only eight carries. Brown Jr got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 68 yards.

Coming up, Baker County will square off against Suwannee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Halifax Academy, they will take on Duval Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 47.71 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
