The Marysville Indians will head out on the road to take on the Wheatland Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Marysville will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Marysville put the finishing touches on their 16th blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past West 56-30. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-9.
Marysville relied on the efforts of Abigail Pietz, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, and Demi Boykin, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. It was the first time this season that Boykin pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Krystal Briggs, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Wheatland was handed a 22-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against the Blazers on Friday. Wheatland sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 34-31 victory over the Blazers. The win was a breath of fresh air for Wheatland as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Marysville is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. Wheatland's record now sits at 8-15.
Everything came up roses for Marysville against the Pirates when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 75-24 win. With Marysville ahead 39-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
