Basketball Recap: West Branch Takes a Loss

West Branch extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 25 on Monday, dropping them down to 0-21. They were outmatched by the Juniata Valley Hornets and fell 67-4. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-0.

As for Juniata Valley, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Juniata Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mazzy Hartman, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. Hartman continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Anna Taylor, who went 8-for-13 en route to 17 points along with six boards and four steals.

West Branch has already played their next contest (against Everett), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Juniata Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-10 win against Moshannon Valley on the 10th.
