Basketball Recap: Sanger Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Sanger entered their match against Roosevelt on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Sanger Apaches fell 55-43 to the Roosevelt Rough Riders. The Apaches were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rough Riders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Sanger's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sofia Aguilar, who posted ten points along with five boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Takeda, who put up nine points and three steals.

Roosevelt's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nyleigh Gregory, who went 8 of 19 en route to 24 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Gregory has scored at least a third of Roosevelt's points. Nevaeh Reese was another key player, going 7 for 10 on her way to 17 points and five steals.

Sanger's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-9. As for Roosevelt, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-3.

Sanger wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 30-29 win against Fresno on the 16th. As for Roosevelt, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-42 victory against Edison on the 16th.
