Baseball Recap: Polo Takes a Loss

Polo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Amboy Clippers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Clippers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 on Tuesday.

Aiden Messer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Jackson Willis made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That run marked the first that he has scored this season.

Polo's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Amboy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-8.

Looking ahead, Polo will square off against West Carroll at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Amboy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Eastland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
