Basketball Game Preview: San Juan Hills Stallions vs. Portola Bulldogs

The San Juan Hills Stallions and the Portola Bulldogs will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

San Juan Hills is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 81-25 victory over Northwood. The Stallions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 22 points or more this season.

San Juan Hills relied on the efforts of Anna Shreeve, who went 10 for 13 on her way to 24 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals, and Adelyn Boberg, who went 9 of 15 on her way to 21 points. The game was Shreeve's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Morgan, who posted seven points and four steals.

San Juan Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, Portola earned a 61-48 win over Brea Olinda on Saturday.

Portola's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for San Juan Hills, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

San Juan Hills couldn't quite finish off Portola when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 61-59. Can San Juan Hills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
