Baseball Recap: North Mustangs vs. McClintock Chargers
North extended their losing streak to 14 on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-18. They lost 13-2 to the McClintock Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 36-0 on Tuesday.
North saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mario Gonzalez, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for McClintock, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games.
On McClintock's side, Cole Rentschler was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North will host Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.24 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for McClintock, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Glendale at 3:45 p.m. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
