Idalou junior explodes for 14 RBI in a single game to lead the 21-6 Wildcats.

Bad news for Texas softball teams playing Idalou. Hailey Van Beekum is only a junior. The first baseman and outfield leads the Lone Star State with 70 RBI to go with a .651 average, 13 doubles and 17 home runs.

The powerful right-hand hitter has another season to mash.

Her Wildcats are 21-6 and 12-0 in District play. After eliminating Canadian 33-0 in a first-round UIL 3A regional game, the Wildcats take on Brownfield, which opened with a 24-1 win over Kermit.

Van Beekum has driven in at least three runs 10 times, with a high of 14 that included three home runs in a 47-2 win over Roosevelt. Six other Texans have driven in at least 60, including Samara Aguilera, of Eastwood (El Paso), who ranks second with 65 RBI.
