Basketball Game Preview: Flatirons Academy Bison vs. Lyons Lions

Two dominant guards in Brandon Ewing and Caleb Christiansen are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Flatirons Academy Bison will be playing at home against the Lyons Lions at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flatirons Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Thursday, Flatirons Academy strolled past Clear Creek with points to spare, taking the game 49-30. Given the Bison's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Golddiggers are ranked 309th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lyons). They blew past Denver Academy 89-51 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won eight in a row.

Flatirons Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Lyons, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Flatirons Academy skirted past Lyons 31-29 in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. Does Flatirons Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lyons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
