Basketball Recap: Cali Wallace's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Leigh over Westmont

If Leigh was riding high fresh off their 63-36 takedown of Ann Sobrato last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between the Leigh Longhorns and the Westmont Warriors didn't end well, with the Leigh Longhorns falling 46-29. The Longhorns were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 43-38.

Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cali Wallace, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Demi Dobrila, who scored six points.

Even though they lost, Leigh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Leigh now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Westmont, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7.

Looking ahead, Leigh will take on Pioneer at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Westmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
