Softball Recap: Lincoln Comes Up Short

Lincoln extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 4-21 in the process. They came up short against the Lewis Central Titans, falling 13-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lynx of the 4-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Lincoln saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Townstead, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Lewis Central, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 25-7. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won 20 games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Lewis Central's side, Emerson Coziahr spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. Coziahr has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aubree Davis was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Escritt, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Lincoln has already played their next match, an 8-3 win against St. Albert on the 28th. As for Lewis Central, they will face off against Clarinda at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
