Softball Recap: Lanier Find Success

Lanier's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They skirted past the Centennial Knights 7-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Longhorns also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Lanier got a big performance out of Isabella Burkhead, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Burkhead a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Roche, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lanier was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lanier's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Centennial, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Lanier will take on Greater Atlanta Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Centennial, they will face off against Westminster at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
