Baseball Recap: Johnson Comes Up Short

Johnson extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-4. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Beach Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-1 on Thursday.

Dashawn Williams made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. That run was his first of the season.

As for Beach, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

On Beach's side, Immanuel Scott was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with seven stolen bases and two runs. DaMario West was another key player, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with six stolen bases and two runs.

Looking ahead, Johnson will venture away from home to challenge Islands at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Sharks will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Beach, they will face off against Savannah at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
